LODGING

CrossCurrents can arrange for a most pleasant stay here in our neck of Montana.  We have over a dozen lodging options for our customers to stay either on or near the Missouri River.  We also arrange for lodging in the Blackfoot valley.  We can accommodate from 1 person to groups of 14+.  From basic accommodations to pure luxury, prices range from $65 to $695 per night.

Our store on the Missouri River is located in the small fly-fishing town of Craig, Montana.  (A small drinking town with a big fishing problem!)  Many of our Missouri River customers stay with us in our Craig lodging facilities, as it is so convenient for fishing, floating, dining and even hunting in the Fall.  Many clients park their vehicle the day they arrive and don’t get back in it until they leave because everything they need is all in short walking distance!  All our cabins, houses & motel rooms are non-smoking and have air conditioning and heat and are either new or recently remodeled.

If you want more pampering while you are here fishing (or just don’t have a clue what to do in the kitchen), you can hire the services of our good friends at The River Chef and have your meals prepared for you.  Many groups just have dinners prepared for them - and how nice is that, come back after a super day on the river and there’s a wonderful, gourmet meal ready for you to enjoy!  Let us know if you would like to have this catering service provided for you while you stay with us.

LODGING IN THE TOWN OF CRAIG:

The Fish Inn Motel

Number of Guests:  1 to 2.

Built in Winter/Spring 2006, the two Motel Rooms that make up The Fish Inn are attached to the East side of our brand new, 2-story building in Craig.  The West half of the building contains our new Fly Shop & little convenience store.  (How convenient is that?!)  Each room has two, comfortable XL single beds, a private bath with a wide shower and shower heads at 6’4” for taller folks, satellite TV and wireless internet.  We used special “quiet construction” techniques utilizing expensive, double insulated walls, double pane windows and central heat & air conditioning so the rooms will be comfortable and quiet.  There are mini refrigerators and microwaves in each room and free, gourmet coffee each morning in the shop.  This is a popular place to stay the last few seasons so please try to book as early as possible, especially for July and October.  They are available all year long so check out our off-season special pricing for your late Fall or Winter visit to the Missouri.  (Photo on right shows the option king bed which is available for a $25 extra charge.)

Located just 6 miles North of Craig in the heart of the spectacular canyon near the Dearborn River the Scenic Valley Lodge overlooks the magnificent Missouri in dramatic fashion.

When you stay at Scenic Valley Lodge, you will enjoy the finest in western style accommodations. The lodge was designed and built as a fly fishing destination and no expense was spared to ensure guests have the most comfortable furnishing and amenities all in a wonderfully fun décor.  You will remember the place you stayed as much as the fabulous fish you caught when you spend your vacation at the Scenic Valley Lodge.

After your day of fishing on the mighty Missouri river, you might want to play some pool in the great room, tie some flies at the tying bench or check out the scores and weather on the flat screen satellite TV.  Maybe you just want to relax and put your feet up in the sun room and gaze at the surrounding mountains and river below as the fading light reflects rich colors off the ribbon of river and canyon walls in the distance.  Feel free to mix your favorite cocktail at the well equipped bar (liquor not included) and then prepare your culinary masterpiece in the fully furnished gourmet kitchen or grill your steaks to perfection on the huge, professional gas barbeque grill on the massive lower deck.  The upper deck is also another wonderful place to sit outside, enjoy a fine cigar and talk about the one that got away before heading off to one of the comfortable rooms for the night.

Scenic Valley Lodge is designed to accommodate groups of four to twelve in four comfortable guest rooms and pull out sofa beds. Three full baths with a continuous hot water system ensures you will always have the perfect shower.  Daily cleaning service is provided.  For groups up to 8 guests, we can arrange for dinner and breakfast to be prepared and served for an additional cost.  This is a wonderful place to stay – I think you’ll agree.

Full-Service Fly Fishing Guest Lodge on the Missouri:

The Missouri River Lodge

Number of Guests:  2 to 14.

Please call or e-mail if you are interested in this unique Orvis-Endorsed, full-service lodge (3 meals per day, guides & lodging) in the Blackfoot Valley.  Friends of mine own and run this wonderful gem.

North Fork Crossing fishing lodge was build in 1997 in a secluded little valley of its own on the North Fork of the Blackfoot River.  A River Runs Through It, the book and the movie, have made this legendary river famous, but our Outfitter has been guiding folks in this phenomenal valley since before the book was published in 1976.

The North Fork Crossing is an ideal setting if you want to get off the world and really fish in a quiet unaffected place with genuine people.  It is a unique addition to the existing fly fishing vacation spots.  The lodge, which serves as the meeting and dining facility, is spacious and distinctively detailed to match the exceptional quality experiences you’ll have with the Guides on the water.

The fabled Big Blackfoot River has wild Westslope Cutthroat, Bull Trout, Browns, Rainbows and Brook Trout and is beautiful beyond belief.  Excellent fly-fishing opportunities abound on the property and in the surrounding area.  Float fishing and wading private waters provide more opportunities than you could fish in a month.  Three distinct mountain ranges are visible from the deck which also overlooks four spring fed trout ponds and the North Fork of the Blackfoot River.  The surrounding hills are covered with Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine, Rocky Mountain Juniper, Engelmann Spruce and aspen groves.  Scenic is certainly an unstated word to describe the surroundings.

The guest sleeping accommodations may seem a bit unusual – semi-permanent wall tents!  Wood floors, oversized custom-made beds with very comfortable mattresses, screened windows and doors, electricity and controlled comfort heat, and a deck make this "camping" experience memorable beyond your wildest imagination.  Take a short walk and enjoy a private modern bath — one for each tent-cabin.

Dining at the North Fork Crossing elevates the rustic experience to another level.  The wonderful gourmet dining provided is inspired by a culinary school trained chef!  Begin your day with a breakfast buffet of exotic egg casseroles or stuffed French toast and hot apple cider syrup.  Lunch is served riverside by your Guide and is guaranteed to fortify an angler for the afternoon hatch.  The talented culinary team prepares creative dinners worthy of the finest restaurants.  A lively salad of wild greens followed by our grilled buffalo steak with spicy mango chutney leads to homemade cheesecake with local huckleberries and the end of an incredible day.

2010 Rates for The North Fork Crossing: Open April-October:  North Fork Crossing based extended trips:  3 days/4 nights for $2,050 per person;  4 days/5 nights is $2,450 per person;  5 days/6 nights is $2,850 per person (all based on double occupancy).  Additional Days are $540 a day per person.  Non-angler price is $400 a day per person.  Airport shuttle is additional.

Special Deposit Policy for The North Fork Crossing:  Cancellations 60 days prior to arrival date will receive a refund less $200/person processing fee.  Full payment is due 60 days prior to your arrival.  Reservations made within 60 days to arrival require 100% deposit.  No refunds for cancellations made within 60 days or reservation.

The CrossCurrents Cottage

Number of Guests:  1 to 4.

Just down the street from our new fly shop and Fish Inn is the CrossCurrents Cottage with its large lawn and tall pine trees and flower gardens.  The first thing guests are impressed with about the Cottage is the sizable Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room.  There is plenty of space to stretch out in the Cottage.  The house was recently remodeled making the two, small bedrooms into one, very large bedroom.  There are 3, extra-long single beds (with extremely comfortable Sealy Posturpedic Backsaver mattresses!) in the oversized bedroom with a very wide closet.  Out in the spacious Living Room is a Full-Size Sleeper Couch and an optional Queen-Size Aerobed along with tables, chairs and an entertainment system.  The large deck on the South side has a gas grill and patio furniture for cooking and relaxing after a day on the river.  You could also check out your favorite fishing show, catch up on the news and weather or watch a movie in the Living Room on the satellite TV with a DVD player and a library of DVD’s.  The Kitchen is fully equipped and has a refrigerator and freezer.  Guests enter from the back door where there is a large Mudroom for hanging your waders and rods.  A nice feature of the Cottage is the central heat and air-conditioning – so comfortable no matter what time of year.  There is also a new (in 2010) washer & dryer available for longer term renters.  In the Fall we have groups who love the place while they are here big game and bird hunting.

The River Chef services available for this lodging facility.

Open May through September, The Fishin’ Shack is our very comfortable answer to economy lodging on the Missouri.  The “Shack” is a renovated and furnished Magnolia single-wide trailer.  It has one large bedroom with two, comfortable XL single beds and a full bath.  There are two other smaller, storage rooms with a large dresser and closet which actually give you plenty of storage and elbow room.  There is a microwave oven, and a refrigerator-freezer for keeping ice cream and 6-packs of bee… ‘er, I mean soda… cold and it has a good A/C unit.  There is a sizable redwood deck out front with a table and chairs for hanging out with a cocktail and cigar after a great day of fishing.  (And with its polyester curtains and redwood deck, why even Sammy Kershaw would feel like a king in The Fishin’ Shack!)  This is the place to stay when you are on vacation to fish and not to spend the whole time in your hotel room.
