Missouri River Easter Trout

Missouri River Easter Trout

Happy Easter ladies and gentle fishermen. It’s a beautiful day in Craig, Montana, the flow out of Holter Dam is at 8000 cfs with a water temperature still hovering around 43 degrees.

The high for today will be 61 degrees and zero chance of rain, so get on the river! (some wind will play in later)

Fishing is still gggreeeaattt, nymphing will still bring up the majority of fish, but the streamer has been doing a lot better than before and will only get better as the water temperature increases. What else happens when the water temperature increases? Well I’lll tell ya, it means those little BWO’s will start coming out to play on the river.

People have had success finding pods of rising fish yesterday, they will be on the banks in slow water. If one does find him/herself anchored on a pod I recommend starting off with a simple Parachute Adams and go from there.

Pink and Firebeads are still big players on this river but don’t be afraid to throw the Zebra or Miracle Midge and/or a Pheasant Tail…

Give us a call or stop by the shop in Craig for a more detailed Fishing Report… 406-235-3433
