The ol’ MO has been a bit mercurial of late, but we’re still catching big fish. The river seems to be in what I call the “almost” phase. Streamer fishing? It’s almost getting going. Wow, is it really late August? Summer here in Craig is definitely winding down. Cool mornings and cloud cover are a nice harbinger of fall. The MO is rockin’ and rollin’ as we head into mid August. Cooler-than-average temperatures have made for some comfortable days on the river, and they’ve also tamped down the number of boats (and tubes, flamingos, rubber ducks, floating dragons, etc.) out there. It’s definitely feeling like mid summer out here in Craig. Daytime highs are up in the low 90s for the next stretch of days, and a hot breeze is kicking up in the afternoons. I’m running out of novel ways to describe how good the fishing has been. Words like phenomenal, terrific, and world-class come to mind. Out here on the MO the fishing has been stellar. The PMDs continue to be in the driver’s seat of the dry fly game, with caddis riding shotgun.
