The Clearwater 7-Weight 9′ Fly Rod is at home in a number of situations, from throwing heavy streamers and nymph rigs to trout, to dropping big poppers in the lily pads for big bass. With plenty of backbone to fight big fish, this rod is at home in any situation where strength is needed, but larger big game rods would be overkill. With a medium-fast action this rod is at home on the flats for smaller bones and might be the perfect rod for schoolie stripers and blues. Incredibly versatile and remarkably affordable, the Clearwater 907-4 fly rod is an easy add to anyone’s quiver.

The new Clearwater® Rod Series is not just a cosmetic facelift, but a complete overhaul from the ground up by our Vermont rod designers. Everything has changed except the value. Shop Staff Notes:  The Orvis Clearwater 9’ 7-Weight Fly Rod is a super nice big Trout (think streamers or windy day throwing Hoppers or Chubbies), Carp, Pike and light saltwater rod that won’t break the budget. The Clearwater series also make for a great back up fly rod for folks that already have a high performer like the Recon or Helios 3F or Helios 3D. (You should never do a big saltwater trip with just one rod!) It’s not just to keep in the tube in the boat but you’ll enjoy fishing this rod too because it does cast really well!

We have made up 9 different UPGRADED Rod Outfit Packages to give you some options based on our recommendations.  We strongly recommend at least upgrading from the Clearwater Fly Line.  That Clearwater line is good but upgrading to the Orvis Hydros or Scientific Anglers Amplitude or Mastery series are well worth it -they cast better, float better and will last longer.  We also include Outfits with the reel upgraded to the popular Battenkill Disc Mid-Arbor Reel or Hydros Large Arbor.
