Shop Staff Notes:  The NEW Orvis Recon 9’6″ 6-weight Fly Rod is destined to be one of our top selling rods.  This is an excellent mid to large river rod for streamers, nymph rigs, big dries or windy conditions. This rod has enough oomph to turn over just about anything you can throw on a trout stream and does a great job as a carp or bass rod and even light saltwater rod. The extra 6 inches of length give you a little more distance to your casting stroke and thus, more distance on your cast and certainly more mending control. The 966-4 is available in all of Orvis’ rod series (Clearwater, Recon, Helios -okay, not in Glass or Bamboo). The reason for this is because they hit on a winner with this rod configuration and anglers love what it can do. This is a Guide favorite not only for them to use for their Clients but for them to use in their personal fishing. This rod is great from a boat or for the wade angler. If you already have your main rod as a 5 weight and are looking for a 6 weight for bigger bugs or wind, then consider the Orvis Recon 9’6″ 6-weight. You will have a lot of fun with this rod!
